In this work, I deal with the emotional states that we go through in the course of our lives – or sometimes even in just a single day. There are days when we sink into the deepest black, when everything seems heavy and impenetrable. Then there are phases in which we slowly work our way out of this darkness – they may not be radiantly bright, but brighter than before, more gray than black. And sometimes we experience these rare, precious moments, which I symbolize here with golden lines – days when everything shines light, when we shine, are friendly, feel ourselves and carry this energy to the outside world.

This movement – from black to gray, to gold and back again – is for me an image of the emotional ups and downs that we all know. I see in it not only individual emotional states, but also collective processes, how we as a society deal with crises, healing, happiness or even setbacks.

The shapes are consciously reminiscent of fault lines, almost like rock layers, that shift and change over time – just like our feelings and our life stories. The picture should give less answers than rather create space for reflection, identification and perhaps even a small piece of comfort.
